Education & Experience
 In 1973, I first began my formal study of psychology at the University of Guelph, Ontario. Upon graduating with an Honours Bachelors of Arts Degree in Psychology in 1977, I took a position as a Family Therapist and Child Care Worker at Lakeshore Psychiatric Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. In 1980, I started my Graduate education and practical training as an Existential psychologist in the Masters of Arts Program in Psychology at the Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Upon graduation, I was accepted into the Doctoral Program at Duquesne University — completing my course work and 600 hours of supervised clinical practice over the next five years. During that time, I worked as a psychotherapist, undergraduate instructor and as a research assistant to Dr. Amedeo Giorgi. After completing five years of Doctoral courses and training in Existential psychotherapy and research, I returned to Toronto to spend the next four years completing my Doctoral Dissertation while working as a psychotherapist at several treatment centres in the Toronto area including the Day Treatment Program at York Central Hospital, The Clarke Institute of Psychiatry (now known as the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health) and Whitby Psychiatric Hospital (later known as the Whitby Mental Health Centre and now called the Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences).
During those four years in Toronto, I continued to work on completing my Doctoral Dissertation ("An Existential-Phenomenological Investigation of the Psychotherapeutic Interpretive Process Enabling Immediate Insight"). I completed my Doctorate in Psychology in 1990 and moved to Vancouver in 1991 to set up my psychotherapy practice.
Upon my arrival to Vancouver, I accepted a position at the North Shore Community Mental Health Centre as an Urgent Response Psychologist which I maintained until 2001. During my first year in Vancouver, I completed the requirements for registration as a Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia and set up a small psychotherapy practice as a Registered Psychologist in North Vancouver. As well, I accepted a position as a sessional instructor and supervisor of counselling students at the Counselling Psychology Department of the University of British Columbia and volunteered with the Post Disaster Response Team of the Emergency Social Services of British Columbia. As part of my continued education, I began to attend training workshops in Existential-Humanistic Psychotherapy with Dr. James Bugental from 1989 to 2002. In 2001, my part-time private practice had developed into a full-time psychotherapy practice and I relocated my office to West Vancouver. Since that time, I have directed my professional interests into full-time private practice, consultation of psychotherapists as well as the ongoing study and research of the process of psychotherapy.
